About the Directors


David Minton (Artistic Director) has directed, produced, and acted in professional theatre for the last 30 years. Before coming to Takoma Park, David produced and managed off-Broadway theatre in New York. Before New York he directed the Addison Centre Theatre in Dallas, Texas and led the development of its new state-of-the-art facility called by Theatre Crafts magazine "a Theatre For the 21st Century". He has an M.A. in English Literature as well as an MBA in policy and planning. Besides directing, David teaches stage combat and is a playwright as well. He joined Lumina as Co-Director with Jillian in 2000.

Jillian Raye (Lumina Founder. Artistic Director Emeritus) has worked as a drama instructor with children and adults for over 30 years. She has performed professionally as a dancer and actor in Australia and the United States, and has directed and choreographed numerous professional theatre productions for and with adults and children. She has been producing Lumina Studio Productions in Takoma Park since 1997. Jillian is a graduate of the Victorian Ballet Guild Theatre School and the Harkness Conservatory of Drama, Australia, a qualified teacher of Rudolf Steiner's Speech and Drama techniques with a Bachelor's Degree in theatre from the University of Texas at Dallas. In New York she conducted drama classes and a summer camp for students at the Rudolf Steiner School in Manhattan. She has initiated the first Takoma Winter Shakefest in 1997 in Takoma Park, MD and has continued to instruct, direct and produce Lumina Studio Productions.
